You do not need a tour to visit the cliffs if you have a car — but the boat trip from Doolin shows you something the clifftop cannot, and for travellers based in the cities a coach tour is by far the simplest way to get here. GetYourGuide lists few products that start at the cliffs themselves; most depart from Doolin, Galway, Limerick or Dublin.

Booking notes
- Boats sail only in suitable sea conditions and mainly from spring to autumn. Morning sailings are generally calmer.
- Visitor-centre admission is included on most coach tours; check the listing.
- From Dublin it is a 12–13 hour day. If your itinerary allows, come from Galway or Limerick instead, or stay overnight.
- Fog happens. The cliffs can vanish in sea mist, even in summer. If you are staying locally, keep your timing flexible and check the webcam on the official site.
