The cliffs are on the R478 between Doolin and Liscannor. There is no railway nearby; the nearest station is Ennis, about 45 minutes away by road. Having a car gives the most freedom, but a public bus runs along the coast and coach tours come from every direction.

By car
From the north, the coast road from Ballyvaughan around Black Head to Doolin is one of the great drives of the west — slow, narrow and worth every minute. From the south, the approach through Lahinch and Liscannor is quicker. The main car park is opposite the visitor centre; the admission charge covers parking, and at peak times in summer it can fill. Do not park on the roadside. Coming from Kerry, the Tarbert–Killimer ferry crosses the Shannon estuary in about 20 minutes and runs all year.
By bus
A Bus Éireann route links Galway, Kinvara, Ballyvaughan, Lisdoonvarna, Doolin, the Cliffs of Moher, Lahinch, Ennistymon and Ennis several times a day, with extra services in summer. It makes a day trip from Galway or Ennis possible, and lets walkers go one way on foot between Doolin and the cliffs. Check the current timetable — winter services are sparse.
On foot and by bike
When open, the coastal walk from Doolin to the visitor centre takes two and a half to three hours. Cyclists should expect hills and wind; the minor roads through the Burren are quiet and beautiful. A summer shuttle bus has operated between the cliffs and nearby villages — ask locally.
To the Aran Islands from Doolin
Ferries sail from Doolin Pier to Inisheer (the closest, about 15–30 minutes), Inishmaan and Inishmore, roughly from March to October, weather permitting. See the Galway page for year-round sailings from Rossaveel.
